Technical Presentations
We just finished our group technical presentations. The interns took turns teaching each other about different equipment and/or therapies that we use here at the U. Some of the topics that were chosen were: Rapid infuser/bellmont, Leech therapy, Crash Cart/Defibrillator, Hands only CPR, and Continous Dialysis. We had a lot of fun sharing and teaching about our experiences with these therapies.

Good Speaker + Good Friends + Good Food = A Great Time
Last week we held our annual CCRN review. After one year of ICU experience you are eligible to test for the American Association of Critical Care Nurses CCRN exam. We had a great review course with over 65 of our ICU, ER, Airmed, PACU and Cath lab nurses there. 10 of those nurses were Critical Care Interns who have graduated from the CCI program in the past year. Elite performers.

Pictures of Spring 2008 CCI's
Pictures of a couple of the hands on learning labs that the CCI's participate in. One is the ACLS Patient simulator where we get to practice doing compression, intubating, relieving a tension pneumo and ACLS algorythms. The simulator patient talks to us, has heart and breath sounds, can be shocked, given IV fluids, is connected to an EKG, and can even be ventilated. Another opportunity is provided by our Burn Trauma ICU. They host the Advanced Burn Life Support class twice a year. Our CCI's are often recruited to be the moulage victims (they get dressed up and "accessorized" to look like real burn victims). Both are awesome learning experiences!
